He’s cute, he's funny and occasionally deep: what more could you want in a man, I mean, a comic? And therein lies the appeal of Mr Bhoy who, while an undeniably clever and laugh-out-Ioud hilarious stand-up performer, is also about as close to pin-up material as the Scottish comedy scene gets.

No offence, guys.

All right, so he has never really been part of the circuit up here, but he was born in Glasgow and that means we can call him Scottish. Just like the fact that he has Asian roots means that he was nominated for the Richard Pryor Award for Ethnic Comedy and makes jokes about what it’s like on the receiving end of racial prejudice. And while it may be cruel to suggest that his ethnicity is as superficial as his comedy, his slick sets tend to have more than a whiff of vacuousness about them. Not that the Bhoy doesn’t attempt to inject a thread of meaning, but it’s just that he’s so much better at the quirky observational stuff, keeping the laughs rolling with his perfect timing and relaxed style.

80 make sure you get your tickets early, as this warm-up gig for the crowd-pleasing housewives’ favourite is bound to be a sell-out. Likewise his Fringe show will probably be packed every night with eager faces waiting to hear exactly what he’s picking off the bottom of his shoe on his poster. Because, regardless of what the critics say, the ultimate comedy charmer never fails to deliver. (Rachael Street)
