NIKKI TAYLOR Profession Fashion designer

Have you always been sartorially gifted? Pretty much. I was given a sewing machine when I was only seven by an auntie who taught me everything I know. She used to make me clothes but let me pick the fabrics and help with the style. so the fact that I've had a hand in what I wear for such a long time has definitely instilled a strong sense of fashion in me. I grew up thinking that everyone did that kind of thing!

Your collection is inspired by the ladies of Warhol’s Factory. Are Scottish girls Nico enough? Of course. Nico was an incredible person who inspired future generations to break the mould and embrace a whole range of different creative interests. I know plenty of people who fit the bill in Scotland at the moment there are so many talented folk here.

What’s are the best and worst bits about the job? Best: no day is the same. good parties. fascinating people, and I love what I do. Worst: working too many hours.

Most glam moment from London or Paris fashion week? The Agent Provocateur tenth birthday party. It was definitely the most glam party at London fashion week. Dita von Teese stripped her way out of a huge birthday cake and the party was packed with a lot of very interesting people. to say the least.

What are your plans for the future? Growing my business in Japan. Europe. NYC & LA. and a beach house in California would be nice.

What would you do on an ideal day off in Glasgow or Edinburgh? A sunny day in Glasgow with friends. food and drink at the Tramway's Hidden Gardens.

I Go to wwwo/aniccom to see Niki 's collection. Niki was helped to develop her business by Cultural Enterprise Office. a national business support service created specifically for Scotland's creative and artistic talent. For more information call 0844 544 9990.
