iii: Dry your eyes if you missed the Franz Ferdinand gigs at Princes Street Gardens. They’ve announced not one, but two shows at the SECC on 22 and 23 November. More spanking new gigs on the horizon include Caribou at Mono on 21 October, Swiss sample maestros the Young Gods at the Barfly on 28 November. A reformed but not reformed Pogues play a pair of nights at Carling Academy on 13 and 14 December. See Book Now on page 77 for just where to get those tickets from.

It‘s a bit out of town but it you're feeling adventurous you could do worse than making for Dundee on 9 to it September for the Ultimate Chill. The three day event combines music. dance and art, as well as providing a platform for new artists. musical and otherwise. See www.rootchord.org for more.

Bands can take the opportunity to have their own live video made at Edinburgh venue, the Exchange. For £195 bands can get a stage, a crew and the chance to make a live DVD. They can also get free web hosting on the LiveMusicX website. See www.livemusicx.com for more details.

Bad news if you're a fan of Garbage. Gang of Four or Karine Polwart. All three have cancelled their upcoming Glasgow and Edinburgh shows, though Karine has vowed to reschedule her dates for later in the year. Refunds are from point of purchase.

Wrgin and HMV have both entered the downloadable music market with their own with songs from 79p and albums from £7.99. HMV has made a point of saying it’s dealing with ‘every single indie label we’ve ever worked with’ in an attempt to get a mix Of music on the sites.
