The name is a deceptive one, for

although Alan Gorrie and his original band of funkateers were all transparently Caucasian, they sound the ground out was far from average. Since reforming in 1988 behind Gorrie and original members Onnie McIntyre and Roger Ball, their catalogue has been embraced by nu jazzers and contemporary soul boys alike. Deemed in the mainstream as one hit wonders for ‘Pick up the Pieces’ below the surface lives a melting pot of live funk unparalleled in quality.
