Gossip, chat and rumour from the gallery floor

I Partners, a limited edition book (pictured) by the Glasgow- based artist Kate Davis, has been published and released through the Sorcha Dallas gallery. Davis’ drawings are of desperate and twisted objects leaking impossible emotions, histrionic scenarios in pencil and ink that mess up pristine paper and your head. Contact the gallery for purchasing details on info©sorchadallas.com.

I London-based art dealer and collector Anthony d'Oftay is in talks with the National Galleries of Scotland to bring his £100 million stash of modern art to Scotland. It is rumoured that representatives from the Scottish Executive and NGS have already been looking at premises in Leith. The announcement coincides with the news that John Leighton will take over the post of director general in March 2006. See lead article, page 89.

I As a development of the ideas put forward by Barbara Kruger’s powerful film installation Twelve in the Tramway, artists Belinda Guidi and James McLardy have been working with teenage boys from Linthouse, Glasgow. With Bow and Drill will include drawing, sculpture and films based on the theme of ‘the den'. The results, which examine private places in public spaces, will be shown until Monday 26 September in the Tramway’s project room.

I Martin Parr has been busy of late, what with the launch of his book The Photobook: A History in Edinburgh (co-authored by Gerry Badger). He has now been asked by architect John McAslan to take photos of the buildings and peOple along the A8. which winds its way along the coast from Port Glasgow to Dunoon. Be prepared to be celebrated. patronised or just fascinated by the results in the Lighthouse. until Monday 3 October.
