Few bands who start off from such an ingenious position stay this far out over time. Most rock

bands soften with age but the angular shapes thrown by this Melbourne trio have, if anything, got more intense over time. Their new album Cinder is as dark and twisted as anything they’ve ever produced, and even the introduction of some sundry vocals hasn’t lessened the intensity. Warren Ellis’ violin has more power than any would-be Jimmy Page could ever muster.
