Here's an idea for a reality TV show: let's put five ordinary British people and five pigs in a house together for 12 weeks and see who creates the higgest mess. I think I can guess who'd win: I have recently come hack from my gap year in Australia. a country that holds consen'ation as a numher one priority. On my Journey home I stopped off in Fur for a week and during my stay there I came across the Ce/ehrity Love lsi'and house. Now an ahandoned shell. the house sits unattended on one of the most heautiful islands l have ever seen. However, when I went inside. I felt my heart drop. The whole place- was ccwered in litter left hehind. and it can only have heen dumped hy the production crew. In the year that I had heen away I had
felt so ashamed to he British. If it is the BBC's roh to ‘educate. entertain and inform'. then no

LIST TOO YOUNG?
I am a regular reader of The List and find it very informative. hut as | slip guietly into my early 30s. I realise the mag is perhaps more aimed at younger people such as students and twenty» somethings who can get out and do all these exciting things. \‘Vithout trying to sound like an old fart. I think it would useful if your maga/ine included a small section for thirty somethings where perhaps life revolxes more around little children and therefore information on exciting and stimulating activities for young families would he valuahle.

I would like to let those who don't know that the Seven Stanes Centre at Kirroughtree near Newton Stewart in Galloway is regarded as one of the top five mountain hiking venues in the world and is definitely worth a visit as I discovered a few '.'.r'eekends ago. Also. in that neck of the woods is the Plumed Horse in
Crossinichael outside of Castle
Douglas. one of the hest puhs in Scotland with the chef heing Scottish Chef of the Year. Although titles and a'-.'.'ards are not the he all and end all. it is great to experience such quality in one of the less travelled parts of Scotland.
