If you feel liking flouting the tradition of spending Hogmanay Ill the tree/trig cold but don't want to be trapped in a pub or at home. help is at hands lit the shape of the nation's comedy clubs. comments in the world don‘t detract l'rom the l‘act that the Scottish pop outtit remain incredibly (and rightly so) popular amongst the general pttblic. Despite only one release ot‘ new material since the early ‘)()s. and only very occasional reunions lot‘ one—oil live shows. the (ilaswegian soulful popsters have a special place in Scotland's musical mindset.
Much ol' that is down plainly and simply to Ricky Ross’ deceptively skill'ul songwriting. his love ol‘ melody and unerring way with a catchy chorus. Jtist take a look at the band’s back catalogue ol' hit singles il'
name has never really been put to rest. A reformation in the late 90s led to a successl'ul tour and a splurge ol new material. while an ecstatically' received appearance at a ’I‘sunami benetit concert at the start of 2005 indicated that there is still great admiration for them.
And so they make the pert‘ect band to play just after the bells at (ilas’gow’s Hogmanay celebrations. An expected crowd of |()().()()() will sing along to every word. but it will surely be more than just a nostalgia trip. such is the tilnclessness ol' Deacon Blue's linest work.
