Gossip, chat and rumour from the gallery floor

I The powers that be at the CCA have asked lecturer, curator and writer Francis McKee to take over as interim director until further notice. With the hasty departure of Graham McKenzie at the end of 2005 the centre has smelt of mothballs (the galleries are being ‘renovated’, ie, will be empty during February and March). Rumours abound that the place is under threat, and only the skeleton of a 2006 programme is in place. That said, Catherine Long (an artist in residence working in the Creative Lab) will be presenting the outcome of her research during the last week of February in CCA 5. Can Glasgow City Council finance Tramway and the CCA? We hope so.

I This is the last chance to book a place on the National Galleries of Scotland‘s six-week Contemporary Art course. It has been devised by Dr Neil Mulholland, a reader of Contemporary Art theory at Edinburgh College of An, and involves artists. art writers and art critics. The course costs £55 (£45 concession). Call 0131 624 6560 for more details.

I Both Cove Park and the CCA are looking for artists to submit proposals for their separate residency projects. For the £3900 (plus £750 for materials) four month post at Cove Park email information@covepark.org, or look on the website at www.covepark.org (submission to be in by Friday 5 February). Check the CCA website for residency details on www.cca- glasgow.com. The deadline is Monday 27 February.
