Cover story: Belle & Sebastian It wasn’t a surprise to many when Belle and Sebastian were named the Best Scottish Band of all Time in our poll this time last year. Although there was some stiff competition, they have a more loyal and dedicated fan base than any other. In somewhat belated recognition of this, it seemed fitting that after five abortive attempts - those photos of them dressed up as gun-toting, moustachioed pensioners didn’t quite cut it for some reason - they finally make it onto our cover. They are a cornerstone of Scottish pop culture and their story is oft told, so we thought we’d canvas everyone, from List staff to random people in the street, to find out what they really wanted to know about Belle and Sebastian. The results are funny, strange and enlightening. See feature, page 16.
