II! A collection of ten recent fine art graduates from Edinburgh College of Art have hired the Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh (in the basement of the Bourne Gallery), from Fri 24 Feb until Fri 3 March. The self- proclaimed ‘Underdogs', including Linda Mathieson, Karen McGeedy, Christopher Miller and Steven Kriby, intend to “stir up the status quo’. Expect dirty pictures and bad words, or maybe more subtle ways of harassing the establishment on Dundas Street above.

.4 David Bellingham will be filling screeds of paper with almost 2 million crosses in a new exhibition at Edinburgh's Heart Gallery. The artist's action/drawing/pertormance recreates the 2003 election, where Scots voted in their own government something that hadn't taken place for almost 300 years. Bellingham will be working in the gallery from 6am to 10pm for an entire month until the mind- numbing task is complete.

it The Society of Scottish Artists and the Royal Scottish Academy have worked in collaboration to bring Body Parts 2006, a three day festival of performance art, to the Finlay Room and the Library of the Scottish Academy. Artists taking part include Carlos Cortes, Bronywn Platten and Zhane Warren. The festival is the brainchild of artist and SSA president Kate Downie and RSA exhibitions coordinator Colin Greenslade. See royalscottish academy.org for more details. I Edinburgh painter David Martin has won the RSA Alastair Salvesen Art Scholarship 2006. The $210,000 prize is the largest independent art scholarship in Scotland. and is awarded to help the artist with travelling and living expenses over a three to six month period. Martin will travel through Egypt. Jordan. Syria and Turkey. moving between mosques. roman ruins and nuclear research centres. Lovely.
