l Futurist feministas Chicks on Speed continue their art/music crossover with art world darlings Cindy Sherman and Jeff Koons getting overdue slaps on the art. Their Fluxus-influenced Situationist aesthetic was put on stage on Monday 22 February at Glasgow’s Barfly to the great delight of the gathered horde of art school drop outs and pattern-cutting course casualties. Melissa: ‘We hear that there’s a growing performance art scene in Scotland and we hope to get involved in the future.’ They don’t play guitars.

I The Travelling Gallery has recently launched its new programme. with work by Belinda Guidi. Mandy McIntosh and Jim Ewen on show. The work is the result ol a three- year collaboration. during which each artist worked separately with non-artists trom PierCurious (an arts project based in Saltcoats). McIntosh created a website with Yvonne Weaver. on which images of Saltcoats Itself are archived. Ewen worked With Stuart Clement and Emma Gibson. creating soulptural objects and a film. Guidi collaborated with Claire Tallow and Katie Akande. and the film ponraits and canvases they produced will be on show. For more details see travellinggallerycom.

I A conference exploring how the landscape of the south-west of Scotland has inspired architects, builders and artists will be held from Friday 31 March to Sunday 2 April at the University of Glasgow Crichton campus. Artists discussing their work at ‘Art in the Land: Ritual, Polemic, Speculation’ include Theo Jansen, 2005 Becks Futures nominee Donald Urquhart and Dalziel and Scullion.
