Henry Northmore gets the low-down on Fatboy Slim’s travelling DJ circus on the banks of Loch Ness.

righton. Bondi. Rio de Janeiro and now Loch Ness. Big beat purveyor and all round

ambassador of dance Fatboy Slim (AKA

Norman Cook) will rock the Loch for this one off

dance spectacular. 13 hours of the phattest beats know to man or beast. all in all perhaps the biggest event the north of Scotland has ever witnessed.

(‘ook’s party pedigree can't be ignored. There‘s the aforementioned Big Beach parties of course. but you can't ignore his own production work. His time with the l'lousemartins and Beats International have been well documented. but it was his second album as Fatboy Slim. l‘)‘)8‘s You've Come a 14mg Way Baby. that reinvigorated the mainstream's love of beats. It became the all conquering sound of the summer with ‘Praise You'. (‘ornershop's ‘Brimful of Asha' ringing out from every festival. Admittedly the next two albums (Halfway between the (iutter and the Stars and most recently l’alimkaville) could never quite attain those dizzy heights. but when it comes to good times. the Fatboy is your man and his new Greatest Hits collection just hammers home the point. And who could forget the sublime video for ‘Weapon of Choice' starring a nimble footed Christopher Walken and his time as the king of Brighton at the Big Beat Boutique.

He‘s just conquered Port Rush in Northern Island. so a trip to our shores seems a natural progression. And there‘s no beach more iconic than Loch Ness. the place that has had a mysterious hold over mystics and monster watchers for centuries. from renowned Satanist Aleister Crowley to Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.

renowned for their partyability.’ enthuses Cook. ‘And we‘ve got some cracking special guests on the bill. We needed something to do on Glastonbury weekend. and I

bit of a highlight for me. Just don‘t say l didn't warn you about the midges.‘ Fellow Scots.
