What Legendary DJ from Brooklyn and the biggest name and pioneer iii American electronic dance music. Legend? He must be
some guy?
Oh yes. BaSically he caused such a buzz on the Brooklyn underground scene in the 808 that the organisers of the Infamous London Orbital M25 raves flew him over to play at one of their Summer of Love shindigs. He basically blew the 25,000 or so ravers into orbit. Not had. A bit of a superstar DJ then?
Well, put it this way. he was one of the first to be flown all over the world to spin. Six continents have had the pleasure of his company.
What made him so unique? Well. the timing was good for a start; that late BOsi'early 90$ scene was ripe fOr the picking but he had a different style to his European ceiiriterparts. The man was raised in Brooklyn. so his raw. booty bass in your face free— styling electro SOund was well different from anything else people were playing.

any records?
Bones set off a fierce bidding war between XL Recordings and Deconstruction Records which led to two albums by Musto & Bones. And that's before all the remixes he's done over the years.
I want names. Like who? Put it this way. he was the first person to remix dance music royalty, 808 State and The Shamen.

THE FREELANCE HELLRAISER

Cheeky bootlegger, producer and DJ, Roy Kerr AKA The Freelance Hellraiser first came to the wider public‘s attention with his rather aptly named track ‘A Stroke of Genius', a bastard pop creation that blended The Strokes‘ ‘Hard to Explain‘ with Christina Aguilera‘s ‘Genie in a Bottle‘. Illegal, yes. Inspiring, most definitely. It caused more than a few waves in pop world to say the least, Miss Aguilera‘s publishers serving him with a ‘cease and desist‘ order (which is now pinned to his wall) and then ironically asking him to remix another track for the then teen queen of pop.
Along with 2ManyDJs and fellow Londoner Osymyso, he introduced a new dance genre known as ‘bastard pop‘ but there is more to him than just sticking other people‘s songs together. His new album, made up of original material, Waiting for Clearance is due out on 26 July, and according to Kerr we can expect to hear, ‘some up and down tempo electro soul music plus collaborations with Gary Lightbody, lain Archer and . . . er, Jan Hammer.‘ Kerr and Snow Patrol‘s frontman have been friends since University and started work on this project nearly six years ago, record deals and the like throwing spanners into works along the way. The first single from his forthcoming album, ‘You Can Cry All You Want‘ has just been added to XFM’s Music Response Tasters List and Roy is rather chuffed with how it may go down North of the border. ‘Xfm in Scotland have been playing it thanks to McSleazy, so hopefully it will start to spread outwards like the warm fuzzy tentacles of an indie dance octopus.‘ (Sandra Marron)
