Meet Bob and Allison, our cover stars. When we commissioned Rob Hann to take photographs of ‘real’ New York, he spent two days scouring the five Boroughs and bumped into his friends in the street as he hung around in b the Lower East Side waiting for a picture. Bob works in an East RearView Village coffee shop, he’s in a band called Emblazon of Knife and he DJs at a hip, slightly tongue in cheek Heavy Metal night called Metal Knerd every Thursday night (at a bar on the Lower East Side called Guero at 210 Rivington St). His girlfriend Allison works in a jewellery store on Orchard Street called Exhibitionist. We reckon they’re ‘real’ New Yorkers. Read the extraordinary selection of tales of the city, by stalwarts of NYC’s alternative cultural scene, starting on page 14.
