Name Namosh

Occupation Singer and Berlin '5 latest electro punk export What’s his story then?

Well. he’s Turkish (behold his rather dark and dashing good looks) and was raised in a South German Village (population. 2000) With his seven siblings. Granted. not great if you are a bit sexually ambiguous, rather flamboyant or into electronic music. Not really a Turkish delight for the talented Namosh.

I take it he did the decent thing and absconded to Berlin then?

Yes. he did and that's where he's causing a bit of a stir at present. In fact, he's been causing a stir for a couple of years now. His most recent song “The Pulse' has done rather well indeed. It was remixed by whomadewho and made it on to the This IS Radio Sou/wax compilation by 2 Many DJs for Mlxmag. BjOrk called Namosh's 'Cold Cream' track her favourite of 2005. As if that weren't enough he‘s just released his first album Moccatongue on the mighty Bungalow records to great critical acclaim.

I’m intrigued now. What about his live shows?

Well, now you're talking his language. He's been described as being a bit of a ‘wild animal’ on stage. Sliding. stage diving, crawling and pogoing are the order of the day. Combine that with his cheeky ‘fuck you' lyrics. his rapping. preaching, and

‘What one person thinks is tech-house and what another person thinks is tech—house are two completely different things,‘ a confident Nathan Coles informs me. Coles is one half of the unstoppable London club outfit Wiggle (along with Terry Francis), Fabric resident and the man credited with inventing the whole tech-house genre, 3 moniker he accepts, albeit a little shyly. ‘I‘m not too sure of getting pigeon-holed with that, even though I have been,’ he jokes, going on to describe the genre in his words: ‘lt’s more acid-house really, not necessarily because it‘s got acid noises or 303 in it but the whole ethos of it, house based with strange noises and techno elements.’

Coles cut his teeth on the underground house scene in the late 805 at Spectrum (Heaven), the Sunrise parties and at the legendary Release warehouse parties he organised with Mr C. But it was his alliance with Francis in the mid 903 that gave birth to Wiggle and spawned the tech-house movement. Nearly 20 years on, it shows no signs of slowing down, 'I knew I‘d always be doing parties, it‘s in my blood, like a disease. I had a feeling that Wiggle would go on for sometime because Terry‘s a really good friend of mine and I saw it as a long time thing,‘ he says. May saw the release of Fabric 28 with Wiggle‘s name adorning the sleeve of the now infamous tinned CD compilations - a proud moment for Coles and Francis. “We haven’t put the Wiggle sound on a compilation before and what better place than to put it on the Fabric collection, a great club that supports the underground and a great place to play.‘ (Sandra Marron)
