REALITY CHECK

So, as we weep a teary farewell to the emotional rollercoaster that is Celebrity Big Brother I'd like to make a novel suggestion. Why don‘t we have a couple of weeks break from reality saturation and go for something quaint and novel, maybe a decent British—made drama? Or some genuinely funny comedy? Or why not go the whole hog and have some current affairs? As much as l'm enjoying the latest fly-on-the-wall innovation Farm of Fussy Eaters yes they've finally made a reality show for kids who won't eat their veg l‘m craving something. well . . . not real.

RE: Rave: How Myspace took over my space (568)

Quoting your recent article in issue 568 ‘Seeing as 2007 is the year when Myspace makes it really big' I‘d like to point out that

2000 was the year Myspace made it big with 2007 as the

subscxiuent hangover. As people follow trends of trying to find

the next big thing (for example the constant change in music styles that are considered ‘mainstream‘ punk. rock, R88, indie, emo') they are pushed forward by the wave of other people catching up. Now that Myspace has become ever— saturated with bands, emo kids and wannabe record labels.

the search is on in 200/ to find the next big thing. An interactive 4D clownload/streaming site with Donnie Tourette spitting all over you or the next Rod Stewart sprouting wrinkles before your very eyes can't be that far away now can it?

suggestion of a watering can. Now. I don't think of myself as

particularly imaginative or indeed romantic. but a

watering can?! Hardly the stuff

of romance: unless you're party to some rather odd gardening related fetishes.

Which for the record, l'm not.

Surely its only satisfying function would be to clatter your misguided other half around the head with it until they saw sense.

WASTE OF SPACE RE: Rave: How Myspace took over my space (568) Reading the article on the life sucking addictiveness of Myspace. I totally related to Sandra Marron’s experience. As a student. sites such as Myspace. Bebo and Facebook are all of huge interest to me. I've lost many an hour with an assignment open, but relegated to the back of the browser, with Bebe open in its place. There is just no better way of avoiding work than being nosy and snooping on people's pages. The only disappointment is to discover that your intended target has set their page to ‘private‘. How inconsiderate of them! But it’s true, the love affair with these sites soon passes. and when you've been suckered into joining several of them by friends who only use one and not the other. it gets tedious. I’ll admit I was similarly addicted for a while but I’ve woken up to the fact that there's no substitute for the off-line world.
