Name

Andy Meldrum, 28 Job

Events Co-ordinator, Amnesty International Scofland

Organising various fund-raising and/or awareness events. Amnesty International has more than 2—3 million supporters who aim to protect human rights worldwide. My job is to help organise and spread the word through Scottish events.

Knowing that you’re contributing to a movement that does such vital work on issues like the arms trade, the death penalty, Guantanamo Bay, freedom of expression, torture and much more is a huge privilege... and bragging to my mates about meeting celebrities is fun too.

Forache bestjobs Organised events for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, like the Fringe Annual Party, Fringe Sunday and also co-ordinated the Fringe ticket office. I also worked on the MTV awards in

Edinburgh and Rome, which was the best after-show party I’d been to for a while!

Get as much experience as you can whether it’s paid or voluntary, be friendly and helpful to everyone you work

with, get excited about all the events you’re involved with and aim high.

The Secret Policeman’s Ball at the Royal Albert Hall was an excellent event to be part of and it raised loads of money g for Amnesty! Russell Brand, the Mighty Boosh and Jennifer Saunders all collaborated together with musicians like the

Magic Numbers to produce a night of stand-up sketch ;' comedy. It was so popular that Channel 4 repeated it at Christmas and it will hopefully happen again next year.
