Re: Moving Pictures (570) Your piece on Pixar made me think: is there such a thing as Scottish animation? Scottish comic book artists. whether drawing for DC Thomson or Marvel or DC are ground— breaking but what abOLit the moving image? Maybe a good subject for a follow Lip?

Re: Back to Earth (570) What on earth did yOu do to Lily Allen to get her looking so bloomin' gorgeous on the cover? You had me fooled for a moment into thinking it was Audrey Tautou. the actress from Amelie. Sylvia Paterson’s article was entertaining but I haven't changed my opinion: I still think Lily is a gobby. spoilt madam. She might be flavour of the month but everyone will get tired of her soon enough. After all. she hasn't got any talent.

RICH PICKINGS FOR POOR STUDENTS

I really enjoyed reading the last issue of the magazine. especially the feature on the Glasgow Comedy Festival. There are lots of great acts on this year and the festival deserves more attention than it generally gets. I was also inspired by the piece on Switch and Bitch clothes swap parties. I have been staring into my wardrobe every morning feeling uninspired. depressed and despairing for months. No longer. What a great way to get rid of unwanted clothes and to give your wardrobe a boost. Just what a poor student like me needs! Thank you.

After reading your short interview with Trenton Doyle Hancock l have to admit I was intrigued. The Fruitmarket usually has pretty entertaining shows. However. after wandering around his exhibition The Wayward
Thinker. the one word that came to my mind was 'silly'. and not in a fun way but in the sense of ‘daft'. Admittedly the art was reasonably engaging — obviously taking the likes of Robert Crumb as his inspiration — but it felt totally vacant and bereft of meaning. What the hell is all this guff

about vegans and meat mounds? That this guy is taken seriously as an 'artist' just seems bizarre; his exhibition was like a badly written children's story. Sorry but it just wasn't WOrth the time or effort.
