FESTIVAL sconrsu ourooon ACCESS FESTIVAL Nationwide, Set 23.,AP_'_TM9_"_7_M3V

.,J

Launched in 2005, the Scottish Outdoor Access Code encourages people to enjoy the great outdoors in a safe and responsible fashion. To walk through fields without damaging crops, picnic without leaving litter, and making sure your dog doesn’t do anything inappropriate to the neighbourhood sheep.

To celebrate the incredible variety of land, mountains and watenivays our beautiful country has to offer, Scottish National Heritage has organised a festival - and we’re all invited. Featuring almost 300 events across all the local authorities, the Scottish Outdoor Access Festival is a feast of non-

motorised activity.

‘We want people to enjoy the outdoors and get a taster for getting out there more often,’ says Eleanor MacGregor of Scottish Natural Heritage. ‘And to learn a little bit more about the principals of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code - a lot of people aren’t aware of their access rights.’

A full line-up of festival events can be found at www.0utdooraccess- scotland.com/festival, including cycle rides, guided rambles, watersports taster sessions and dog walks. On Sunday 29 April, Holyrood Park in Edinburgh is hosting an outdoor activity shindig, with obstacle courses, buggy walks, seed planting, ball games and Winnie the Pooh. While at the Ceramic Experience at Loch Lomond Shores, you can paint a new pair of

welly boots (supplied).

‘On one hand, the festival is encouraging people to come and have a go at new activities to get more confidence,’ says MacGregor. ‘But there are also challenges for people who are already active and want to develop their skills.’
