Smagghe‘s (ilasgow connections are strong. espeeially with the Sub ('lub. 'I haven't played in the Sub ('lub for ages. It was with ()ptimo about five years :1go when I played.’ While Smagghe claims he eannot really remember exaetly where and when he met 'l'witeh and Wilkes they are now lirm friends and label mates. Remember this is the man responsible for one of Seotland‘s most eagerly awaited eompilations. finally persuading ()ptimo to release their first mix (I). Hrm‘ In Kill I/H’ I)./ Part 2 in 2004.

For this Visit Smagghe is taking to the deeks alongside Slam at their Return to Mono night. The l'aet that they differ in style musically suits Smagghe down to the ground. ‘I don't believe in just one scene. It doesn‘t work like that. There are loads of dil‘l‘erent seenes like Slam and ()ptimo in (ilasgow which are eompletely dil‘l’erent.‘

The new Blaek Strobe album. Burn Yuur ()11‘21 ('liim'li may be the talk of the town but Smagghe is remaining tight-lipped on the subjeet. He is more eoneerned with his new releases ineluding his Kill the DJ label partner [)1 ('hloe‘s album. ‘lt's quite nice to be able to put out some niee musie even though you don‘t make any money out of‘ it.’ he laughs.
