It went on to sell 7.2 million copies in the US alone. making it the ninth best-selling kids' book of all time. It has been translated into many languages. including Latin (Cattus Petasatus) and
Yiddish (Di Kats der Payats). I A copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is sold every 57 seconds. George W Bush revealed that the pre-school book was his childhood fav0urite. which is WOrrying as it was published in 1969. when Bush was 23 years old. I Winnie-the-Pooh by AA Milne became the first foreign language book to feature in the New York Times' best-
sellers list after it was translated into Latin in 1960. The honey-guzzler's official birth date is 21 August 1921. the day Milne's son. Christopher, received him as a
gift for his first birthday.
