When did you Shirl your job?
I began my career with House of Fraser in September 2002. at the Gateshead Metro Centre branch. I was then asked to relocate to Jenners Edinburgh in August 2006. Of course. by this time Jenners had been acquired by House of Fraser.

The dressing of windows and in-store locations. with mannequins and homewear; implementing display schemes supplied by head office and bespoking displays at a local level; painting and decorating; general DlY; dealing with signage and window text vinyl lettering; and the placement of store promotional posters to their specific time period.

Being creative! Creating an atmosphere/vibe throughout the store and of course making things look pretty! I personally get satisfaction from customers praising comments and seeing them purchase something they have seen in the windows. Wont Aunt-tit. oi the Job?
Being the last to leave the store on Christmas Eve. as all of the Visual team have to set up for the beginning of the sale on Boxing Day. Also setting up Christmas Shop in early September before some people have even had their Summer holidays!

I previously worked in Littlewoods/Index as a Sales Assistant but also helped out in display.
What's the I)e:.t way to get a jUI) like your?
I went to Art College and studied 30 Art 8. Design which does help but it is not essential. It you are currently working in retail and would like to be a Visual Merchandiser. you should approach the Visual Manager and offer to help the team or do voluntary work for Charity Shops to gain some experience. Where do you :it'(‘ yourselt in 10 years. time?
Working at Head Office in London designing new window and instore schemes: or living in Spain. chilling out. drinking cocktails on a beach after winning the lottery!!!
What skills are essential to succeed as; a Visual Merchandiser?
You need to have a creative flair, have fresh new ideas. a good eye for detail and know the current trends.
