Guests None at the moment. although the pair won't rule out local guests in future. ‘We do owe a few favours to certain promoters and DJs who have helped us out over the years.’ they say.
Music pollcy Progressive. uplifting house, with some dirty. tribal trance beats and a few classics thrown in for good measure.
What they say 'Brett and I have known each other since childhood,‘ says Dempster. 'I used to run a club out near Dalkeith called The Canteen. then my first residency was in the backroom at Wilkie House's Luvely. before I graduated to Alan Joy's Mingin' at the Venue. l was one of the residents there for eight years. Brett started out at house nights in the Vaults. before Maggie and Alan from Joy offered him a residency there. So we're inspired by the great Edinburgh clubs we've already played at, which are no longer with us. as well as clubs like Taste. Brett and I both have friends who are gay and straight. so we're hoping to cater just as well as these nights to a mixed clientele who like to party.’
What we say With the sad news that Edinburgh's Sunday night institution Taste has just shut up shop. that leaves its monthly offshoot Fever and Luver as the city's only musically credible option for a gay-friendly crowd. Time was, though, that clubs like Joy and Mingin' offered the city's gay scene much more than predictable chart and party action; with their pedigree, the Satisfied boys will hopefully help redress the balance.

then because I have such an affinity with Brazilian music, for some unknown reason, I tend to sort of meld the two and it seems quite natural for me to do that.’ Robertson fittingly describes his original Spiritual South events as, ‘championing world music with a club angle to it, rather than socks and sandals.’
With an album on the way on Raw Fusion (and ongoing side projects such as GAMM’s Sugarloaf Gangsters and the Ultimate Brazilian Breaks & Beats compilation) Robertson’s ‘now sounds with organic Brazilian elements’ are to be joined on this bill by Dougie Salsa Celtica Hudson’s lively new Afro-centric project, The Den Collective, and the following evening in Glasgow by Samba Ya Bamba for a Bebado Carnival Special. 80, if it’s the Samba or the squelch that bumps your rump, Spiritual South should cure all your cravings. For some, the term ‘world music’ still conjures up images of tie dyed tunics and florescent face paint. But this stigma is fading as revellers bring to the dancefloor an ever-greater familiarity with a myriad of musical genres. Flying the flag for world music this month is Edinburgh’s Departure Lounge, still riding high following a Hogmanay special that took place in the newly extended The Caves and packed in 1000 revellers. The venue’s Astroboy and colleagues have invited Spiritual South, aka Mark Robertson, to share his own take on worldwide future music.
