News to nibble on

I m raised expectations, no new Michelin stars have been awarded to restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh, though there‘s one for West Lothian with the unexpected elevation of the Champany Inn near Linlithgow. Places awarded a Bib Gourmand (good food at reasonable prices, by which the Mich Man means £28 for three courses) for the first time included Duck’s at le Marché Noir in Edinburgh and the Wee Restaurant in South Queensferry, joining other Central Belt favourites the Atrium in Edinburgh, Ayrshire's Sorn Inn and Creagan House in Strathyre, near Balquhidder.

I am u'lucl, formerly of the Apartment and OutSIder restaurants. has teamed up again with Kenny Waugh to open a bistro called Iris at 47 Thistle Street. Edinburgh. 0131 220 2111. Exposed stone walls. silk panels and varnished wooden tables give it a Simple. stylish vibe. while the menu offers relatively uncomplicated dishes such as baked salmon wrth cherry tomatoes. green beans, olives and anchovres.

I ucxm shelves, a few wine posters, a Piaf CD and a menu ranging from crepes to cassoulet set the tone at Bistro Saint Germain, newly arrived at 71 Nithsdale Street, Glasgow, 0141 423 0914. Look out for regular events including wine tastings.

I I‘ll at The List we are delighted to announce The List Card, 3 dining out discount card, to be launched in April to coincide with the publication of the 15th edition of our Eating 8 Drinking Guide. For more information, see Noticeboard, page 7.
