When dist yes: 1; yeast: get}? A friend and I started Wasted State back in 2004 to put on gigs for small bands in Edinburgh to get them experience, fans and exposure. After a year working with labels and promoters in Australia I restarted Wasted State as a record label.
Se sees gets aetssiiy insoise? Day to day work involves sorting through the piles of demos we receive and giving feedback. This isn’t really essential, but I know from experience its good to get feedback on what your band is doing. Going to gigs is a big part of the job and there are loads of good bands that go unnoticed. There’s a lot of rubbish but at the same time there are a few gems that deserve more recognition. There are also the less rock'n'roll tasks like papen/vork, accounts and paying bills, along with the constant promotion and plugging through working with websites, magazines and promoters to get the bands greater exposure.
Eras? / fiiésesi éseeets? Possibly the worst thing in the world is when someone spots me at a gig and asks me what I thought and I have to tell them that it was pretty bad. Its not a nice thing to have to tell people but the truth is better than stringing out a lie. The absolute best thing about running a label is going to gigs; it's great when you can go out with friends, drink and watch bands all in the name of work!
What dis; gas {is haters yet: started this got}? Before i started Wasted State I worked in Virgin Megastore doing everything from customer service to stock room supervisor. l’ve gone from corporate sell-out to running a punk label!
What’s way to get: a get“; iike yours? Buy me a pint of Guinness! Starting your own label is hard; there's a lot of preparation and a lot of time when there is no money. The best way to get into a job like this is to get as much experience as you can. Help out putting on gigs, roadie for mates' bands. promote bands you like, work in a record shop etc. The more you know about the industry the easier it will be for you to get a job.
Where do year see yearseit‘ in ten years time?l would like to see Wasted State with a back catalogue full of excellent music with a roster of top class bands. I’d also like a 1950 Mustang by then too, but we'll see how that goes...

Which barrels should we took cut for on Wasted State? Definitely look out for Taking Chase whose CD is out now and it’s outstanding. Dick Dangerous and The Love Bastards, Tyrant Lizard Kings and Flat Iron are the other local boys we are releasing this year. Also. bands from further afield include The Porkers. Casino Rumblers and Elijah. who will all be making an appearance on Wasted State along with a few others we have in the pipeline. Watch this space . . .
