Se street; {éees gees“ There’s a lot of variety in the job. A big part of the job is keeping up to speed with current events and visual arts stories. I’m also responsible for devusing press campaigns, writ- ing releases, organising photocalls and even being pulled in to model behind a catalogue every once in a while.
Best 3 were? I really feel that Edinburgh is lucky to have so many fantastic and varied national gal- leries so getting the chance to promote places that I’m personally passionate about really makes for an enjoy- able job. And don’t get me started on the amazing cafes . . . The worst aspect of the job would probably be going through ALL the weekend papers and supplements on a Monday morning. Yes, I know how spoiled that makes me sound, but it gets really tedious, honest!
What: dict you do “this I was at university at Trinity College, Dublin. My degree was in History of Art and Spanish. I also worked for a fine art auctioneers in Dublin part-time which helped broaden my knowledge of the art world, and also meant I was comfortable being around big names and works with expensive price tags.
What‘s the best; way fie gee iiésze years”? I know that everyone says it, but getting as much experi- ence as you can is really important. l was on the commit- tee of the Trinity Visual Arts Society and helped organise a college arts festival in my final year. It was a bit manic trying to squeeze it all in, but I gained a lot of brilliant experience that has served me well since. Also, don’t be afraid to apply for jobs you like the sound of - I think that finding your dream job often has to do with good timing and a bit of luck.
Where do you see yourseii“ in tee: years time"? There are lots of things I would like to do, so who knows at this point? l’ll definitely always have an interest in art so hopefully l'll still be in as stimulating and creative envi- ronment as the NGS.

What’s your tip for this year’s festiuai? I’m really excited about the Tracey Emin retrospective coming up at the SNGMA. She seems to be at the top of her game, and this will be an amazing opportunity to see a huge range of her work here in Edinburgh.

EDUCATION OFFICER (SCRAN) (ref. 5/02/03) Salary range £23,528 to £32,015
This permanent post will be one of a team of three Education Officers focussing on the learning provision of Scran within the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland, with particular responsibility for the further and higher education and schools sectors. Scran (www.scran.ac.uk) is an online learning resource hosting 360,000 images, movies and sounds from museums, galleries, archives and the media.
Applicants must have a degree or equivalent qualification or demonstrate substantial experience working within the education area.

Homecoming Scotland 2009:
Heritage on the National Forest Estate (Fixed term appointment for 18 months) Salary range £23,528 to £32,015
'lhis post within the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland will compile and share information on appropriate heritage sites on the national forest estate, and co-ordinate an outreach and events programme across Scotland to encourage people to ‘come home' to the heritage sites in Scotland's forests. The project is a partnership between Forestry Commission Scotland (www.forestry.gov.uk/scotland) and RCAHMS.
Applicants should have a degree, or equivalent experience, in history, archaeology, architectural history or a related subject as well as experience of developing and delivering education resources and outreach events.
