THE GREAT DIVIDE Scotland: A

Changing Nation

Saw the exhibition Scotland: A Changing Nation and enjoyed much of what it had to show, but will the readers of The List join me to demand they include something of that great Scottish band Big Country in their film medley of pop stars?

Also, perhaps a more honourable mention for the former MSP, Tommy Sheridan, is merited? He helped millions to defeat the poll tax across the UK and all the gallery offers is the back of his head without a name check.

Let 's have the debate on Big Country and Tommy, now! Adrian Johnson Edinburgh

DESIGN FOR LIVING Re: Sound Sense (608)

My husband is a graphic designer and he hasn't worn red socks or big glasses since Buggles were in the charts. Mind you, he can't spell for toffee so it’s quite possible he doesn't know about capital letters for proper nouns and all that stuff.

CHINA IN YOUR HAND

Your reviewer mutters about Tao Bar and Restaurant being “hardly innovative and groundbreaking. Sounds like my kind of place. Don't you think the reason Chinese restaurants have much the same menu is that they got the formula right decades if not centuries ago? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Mine's

Luke Roberts slags off his reviewers while his stage partner Nadia Kamil talks about Steve Martin ‘before he got shit'. In other words, it's OK for Roberts and Kamil to have opinions about other comedians, but not for people to have (bad) opinions about them.

Really good, varied and interesting. He's captured quite a lot of history in 30 years; the stories behind the pictures are very well represented.

Excellent. The comments with the pictures brought some real life to the exhibition, especially the Kennedy photographs.

Sandra Retired I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was lovely to see pictures of the old Glasgow we remember. I particularly enjoyed the photos of Bill Clinton and Liza Minnelli.

Neil Musician

Brilliant. The one that touched me the most was Michael Devine lying in his open casket with the children standing over him.

Alan Bissett's article on the history of the Joker character from Batman. It was very well written, thoughtful and clearly well researched.

Please pass on my thanks, and keep up the good work. Daniel Wray By email

two remaining Beatles are worried about their image? I still admire the guys. but this has to be one on the lamest things since the issue of the Magical Mystery Tour film.

I hope they read this message and that they have a change of heart. Nothing can be gained by hiding a piece of history that's already been seen on thousands of silver screens and on countless poor quality bootlegs. Get a grip on reality Paul and Ringo.

Re: Wannaburger

Hopes were high for Wannaburger. The Cambridge Bar and the Blue Moon Cafe have proven that a simple burger can elevate its status with a little thought and ahenuon.

Sadly Wannaburger did not live up to the hype, which is a real disappointment. This certainly ain't no fast food! The onion rings were greasier than a mechanics overalls.

Perhaps we picked the wrong day as the town was obviously getting busy pre-festival, but they did nothing to tempt us back a second time.

Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed have all played Scotland this summer. Who were you most

excited about?

‘I know it‘s not healthy, but I‘m a little bit in love with Leonard Cohen.‘

‘He’s a legend!’
