So what does your job actually involve? Where to begin! Dealing with the marketing, PR and sponsorship for all of the events UZ produces, such as Glasgow Art Fair, Big in Falkirk and Merchant City Festival. I work with designers to create the visuals and print for each cam- paign, book advertising, correspond with our existing client databases both online and through direct mail, pro- mote the events to the press and try to generate addi- tional revenue or in-kind products through liaising with businesses.
Best / worst aspects? You never know how each day is going to turn out which is both exciting and stressful in equal measures! One phone call or email can change your entire day so you need to be on the ball and be able to deal with tricky situations. However I get such a buzz from seeing tens of thousands of people of all ages turn out to one of our events and have a great time.
What did you do before you started this job? I was marketing and new media co-ordinator for Scottish Ballet.
What‘s the best way to get a job like yours? Seek out as much experience as possible and persevere. I started out working in the Arches' box office when I was at university and saw what the press manager did and thought that was something I’d like to do. I worked in the Edinburgh Fringe press office the summer I graduated and then wrote to companies I wanted to work for. I ended up working in the Tron’s press and marketing department. So, I just worked my way up.
Where do you see yourself in ten years time? I’d like to go freelance eventually and quite possibly move to a warmer climate!

What's next on the U2 events calendar? The Merchant City Festival will be hitting Glasgow from September and has an amazing programme of theatre, music, visual arts, fashion, dance and film so make sure you come along to enjoy it!
