The Mill Glasgow flung open its doors to much acclaim in August. And The Mill Edinburgh looks set to do the same when it opens in September.
The Mill, if you don’t by now know already, consists of two new live music venues. Created by Miller Genuine Draft, they showcase the best in emerging bands and DJs each week. There are no judges, no promoters and no touts, it’s only about the music, the crowd and the beer. Gigs are free (yes, free) — you just need to register for tickets online at themill-live.com
So what’s coming up at The Mill? We asked Yvonne McLellan, from The Mill’s A&R team, to speak to a band from the forthcoming line-up and this is who she found

Five guys who really know how to make a gig interesting — the Edinburgh based band FOUND. By mixing different sounds and visuals, they deliver a unique type of experimental pop. Playing at The Mill Edinburgh on October 2nd and releasing a single the same month, I met Tommy the lead singer, to ask him what he made of it all.

Absolutely! We’re very into unique live experiences. We love to create one-off shows. Sometimes we use a different version of our tunes or different instruments. Or sometimes we come up with some visuals that tie the show together or create a different kind of concept

I think the more opportunities for people to come and see live music the better. The registration online I guess highlights the numbers are still limited so you’ve got to make sure that you get yours in time.

We are planning to air some brand new material. Ziggy actually makes a lot of musical instruments and we’re always keen to try and come up with new ways of creating different sounds. So we will definitely be bringing some of his new creations along.

Yeah, I’m really keen to see the video recordings and it will definitely be great to have high-quality live recordings made. That’s really exciting.
