(ilasgow venue The Barfly in
launching a new live music event this month. The List lixposure Night will be a regular monthly live music event showcasing the best new and emerging music from near and far. The line-up of the monthly show will be jointly curated by Tim List and The Barfly and reflects the best in new. interesting and high—quality music talent from Scotland and beyond.
The initiative kicks off with an appearance from politically-charged. London ska-folk- pttnk trio The King Blues (pictured). who arrive in Glasgow on the cusp of releasing their acerbic new album Save the ll’nrltl. Get the (iirl. The band have been gaining plaudits for their self-proclaimed. ‘conscious. rude boy ska’. being championed by the likes of '/.ane Lowe. the Guardian and Km't‘ung.’ alike. The band. reinforce the notion that music can be socially aware without being preachy.
List music editor Mark Robertson explains the ethos behind the series. ‘We have worked with various venues across Scotland in the past on live music nights. but had been looking for someone to head up a more regular event. The Barfly has earned a solid reputation for supporting new music
and have enjoyed great success with similar
nights in conjunction with NML’. Kt't‘t'ung.’ and Xli‘Vl across the country. so when they approached us. it seemed like the perfect
partnership.‘

The live aspect of the event is complemented by a new web initiative. lixposure. at I.ist.co.uk. Starting on Thursday lo ()ctober. lixposure aims to provide a useful leisure-planning tool by profiling the emerging acts with upcoming live dates in your town. With five new artists being previewed each week — one a day Monday to Friday — users can hear an artist‘s music online. watch their videos. read about why they deserve your attention and potentially decide to go and see them there and then.
The idea is an expansion of The List‘s regular lixposure feature which picked up on the likes of lirrors. Hayseed Dixie and The Fratellis at the very early stages of their careers. Visit www.list.co.uk/exposure for more info.
