Glasgow's Hogmanay is set to offer an unsigned band their moment

his year's llogmanay festivities could provide a stepping stone to stardom for one lucky band. as King Tut‘s Wah Wah Hut and Winterfest Glasgow this year offer an unsigned Scottish act the chance to kick off New Year festivities in Glasgow's George Square. The initiative. titled The Road To llogmanay. will offer a band or musician the chance to share the stage with Paisley star Paolo Nutini as part of this year‘s Hogmanay festivities. The runner—up in the competition will perform an intimate gig at King Tut‘s on the same night. The winner will be decided by a panel ofexpetts. Geoff Iillis. of D}: Concerts. said: ‘This is a tremendous opportunity for Scottish

bands to gain amazing exposure in front of

a world-rentmned Scottish audience and to really kick off the New Year in style. ‘As support for live music in Scotland continues to grow. this is a unique chance for Scottish music lovers to support the

‘The standard of unsigned music we hear every month at Your Sound. King Tut‘s unsigned initiative. is extremely high and we look forward to giving some more acts the chance to show what they can do.‘

Colin Hartley. events manager for Winterfest Glasgow. said: ‘Over the years Glasgow‘s Hogmanay has showcased the very best in Scottish talent and I‘m sure that we will discover the next big thing as this competition heats up.

‘Sharing a stage with Paolo Nutini is a pretty good way to ring in the bells.’

The closing date for submissions is 5 November, after which the judges will shortlist acts to perform at one of three showcase slots on The Big Stage in George Square on 27 November, 4 8: 1 1 December. The public can vote online for their favourite act at www.kingtuts.co.uk
