Four exciting opportunities have arisen within the Sport and Events Team. The Events Team is responsible for the majority of the city’s major cultural, civic and sports events such as the Women’s 10K, the Great Scottish Run, the World Pipe Band Championships, Glasgow Fireworks, Glasgow on Ice and Glasgow’s Hogmanay. As part of the ongoing development and capacity building of the Company, these posts have been created to ensure that the Events Team can continue to procure, plan and deliver world-class major events.

Events Safety Co-ordinator (35 hours per week, non standard working hours)

The post of Events Safety Coordinator has been created to ensure that safety is given priority during all stages of event

planning and delivery. As such this role will be both interesting

and challenging offering the successful candidate autonomy

as they oversee the management of safety for events. The successful candidate will have knowledge of current

health and safety legislation and experience of its practical

application in a multi-disciplinary organisation and/or at major events. You must have the ability to communicate

effectively at all levels and have good negotiation skills.

Adaptability and effective problem solving are also key skills required within an environment of competing demands.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as being a team player. You must have the ability to prioritise

workload within a multi-disciplined environment, meeting pre-determined deadlines and ensuring work is accurate

The post of Senior Events Officer (Sport) has been created

to ensure that, with the opening of major new sport venues and in the lead-up to 2014, Glasgow can procure, plan and

deliver world-class sports events from its existing annual portfolio. The successful candidate will have experience of

project management and operational delivery of major sport events and will have experience of both outdoor non-venue

(e.g. road, Greenfield, park, etc) and venue based sport

events. It is essential that the successful candidate has worked in the sport events sector and in particular has

experience of working with the National Governing Bodies

Events Support Officer (35 hours per week, non standard working hours) £20,056.76-£23,490.70 (inclusive of non core payment) Location: Sports and Events, Events Section, 20 Trongate, Glasgow Ref: 2621 The Events Support Officer will play a key role in supporting the Events Team in areas of budget management, contracts, licensing, legal, purchasing and insurance procedures by creating and managing administrative and support procedures that will ensure that the support aspects of the Events Team output is organised, consistent, efficient and effective. The successful candidate will be expected to create and manage relevant systems and procedures for the administration of Events and the Events Team. The successful candidate will manage all individual communications with the general public, customers and contractors as well as Elected Members and other Glasgow City Council officials. The successful candidate will play the role of Office Manager for the Events Team as well as manage the support services and office management budget.
