Happy New Year to you all! We hope you all enjoyed your wee break over Christmas. As it’s the time for reflecting on the past year, we’ve been checking out videos and downloads from some of the fantastic bands we’ve had at The Mill.

2008 saw a beautifully eclectic mix of bands perform at The Mill. That’s probably down to the fact that we’re always looking for emerging bands that push the boundaries. And I1 I- did just that, when she played a brilliant set at the end of last year. She and her band treated us all to be a bit of swing, mixed with jazz, all presented in a contemporary manner. :z 1‘; .

also took to the stage and played a couple of great shows, especially in Edinburgh where they absolutely rammed the venue. With I‘.‘III.I.;, I.I‘I

supporting, there was a real acoustic songwriter vibe going on. i‘v‘wiin-I filled in any gaps with some haunting cello parts during their set. If you missed these performances check them out at themilI-Iive.com.

We ended 2008 with a bang. If you saw our virtual stages in the Buchanan Street and St Enoch underground stations, you’ll know exactly what I mean. We also took over a couple of vans and fitted massive screens to the sides of each of them. These vans are still driving around Glasgow and Edinburgh on Wednesday nights playing highlights from The Mill. Spot one and you’ll see what those who grab free tickets experience every week. You can download tracks from the vans via Bluetooth, so if you see one in the next few months make sure you have your Bluetooth on!

Looking ahead, we kick off the New Year with a belter of a double bill featuring I; II alongside on Jan 14th and 15th. We’ re thrilled to have finally confirmed MII' . for Jan 2lst along with at The Mill Glasgow— definitely a

great double act! On Jan 22nd at The Mill Edinburgh we have the pleasure of introducing I'.‘ I’- I. andI I I. for then fIrst gigs of 2009. You definitely won’t want to miss them.

We round off the month with performances from bothI and I'JvtIv-II ‘II I . at The Mill Glasgow on Jan 28th, who are to be followed the next day at The Mill Edinburgh by

and _. IIIII

January might be a quiet month for most of us, given the fact that we’re all counting our pennies. But it doesn’t have to be. That’s because getting into The Mill is still absolutely free. Simply visit themiII-live.com to get your hands on a pair of tickets and check out who we‘ve got lined up. And as we’ve been absolutely inundated with bands wanting to play at The Mill, we’ll also have loads more bands to announce in the coming months. So keep coming back.
