Hot on the heels of the recent Taste Festival, the Foodies Festival sets out its succulent stall for a second year Words: Anna Millar
allowing its inaugural success last
year, the Foodies Festival will
return to Edinburgh this summer for a foodie extravaganza in and around Holyrood.
Following the pattern of last year’s line- up, this year’s programme boasts demonstrations from some of Scotland’s top chefs — among them Michelin star- winners. Look out for Jacqueline O’Donnell of the Sisters and Paul Tamburrini of Hotel du Vin among the acclaimed culinary experts.
Elsewhere. food lovers can enjoy masterclasses with tastings from industry experts, offering oysters. cocktails. luxury chocolate, gin and cheese. as well as a champagne tent hosted by Veuve Clicquot, a market of specialist food—and- drink producers and a whisky theatre.

The Edinburgh event will be in the
parklands of the Royal Palace of
Holyrood House. from 21—23 August. the three-day format capitalising on the Edinburgh festival crowds. with this year‘s Fringe festival running a bit later this year.
Plans are afoot to stage yet another event in the capital in December.

HOLYROOD HISTORY
I Ten years on from the formation and initial build of the Scottish Parliament, Made in Edinburgh presents a documentary looking at the process from start to finish. The Holyrood Files will be screened at the Filmhouse, Edinburgh on 30 June at 6pm. The documentary, five years in the making, was originally a four part series for the BBC before being edited into a one-hour feature documentary.

score the soundtrack to a film adaptation of one of his children's books. High in the Clouds tells the Story of Wirral the Sauirrel's search for an animal sanctuary. The songwriter's 1984 hit ‘We All Stand Together' was also taken from an animated feature. Rupert And The Frog Song.

ANNIE LENNOX continues to do her bit for charity, and will put an array of goods up for auction in Hong Kong. Proceeds from the auction will go to The SlNG Campaign, an initiative Lennox launched in 2007 to raise money for the Treatment Action Campaign, which campaigns for treatment for people with HIV.

EventScotland is to invest £9000 in Pilgrimage: A Scottish ‘ Road Movie Film Festival. The cinema travels across Scotland 1-9 August. The project follows their Nairn based film festival, The Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams.
CALLING ALL BOOKWORMS I Following the success of Days Like This, the Scottish Book Trust is launching The Book That Changed My Life, a new reading and writing project asking people across Scotland to tell a story about the one book that changed their life. It can be anything from a classic novel to a children’s book, a collection of poems or a self-help book, anything as long as it is linked to a personal and possibly life-changing story.
