FUN, FUN, FUN

I went for the first time to the 5K Fun Day this year and took part in this event with my daughter who is eight years old. We had the best day: the event was very well organised and the fun day was great. I did not think it was expensive at all. My daughter had a great time and the bouncy castle. and most other stuff was for free. The DJ on stage was amazing and lots of fun. The food was also good. I have recommended it to all my friends and kids and we will all definitely take part in it again next year.

Thanks to all the Organisers. PJ

I thought The Bum Clocks were cool but was just blown away by the tango rhums. When they came on they looked like a bunch of old men trying to relive their youth but then they started playing and were fantastic. My favourites were 'Nick Cave's moustache' and ‘Newtown Animals'. l have now bought a T-shirt. a hoody and a thong from their site get out and see them while you still can.

LETTER OF THE FORTNIGHT

ROCKIN' ON EMPTY

Aleksei Sytsevich By email

I had the pleasure of being in AC/DC's company at Hampden the other week to see one of the greatest rock shows ever. However. while the band were on fire, Hampden let the gig down. Nice and easy to get in with minimum fuss but that's where it ends. Getting a drink took ages standing in hot sweaty queues of about 200. while the folk with beer backpacks wandering around the pitch seemed to take forever. with queues at a standstill. Beer ran out at a regular rate. I was lucky enough to have standing tickets but some of the seats I noticed had a very limited view of the stage (I hope they didn't cost full price. but I'd be amazed if they didn't) and the pitch felt over crowded they really had packed us in. Fortunately, as soon as the 'DC came on stage you forgot all these worries but it's a shame that what should be

It was great to read about the Odeon cinema on Clerk Street in Edinburgh finally being up for a public enquiry. But I hope this doesn't mean further months of speculation and stalling. This has been rumbling on for so long that it's time for the powers that be to step up and make a decision.

POPTAITIC

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Nicola Meighan's feature on pop at T in the Park. I've always been a bit of a pop fanatic. and have been the punchline of many a joke about musical tastes. so it was great to see a magazine like The List promoting truly great pop music at a time of such a renaissance for the genre. See you down the front!

RIP KIND OF POP

Like millions of music fans, I was saddened to hear about the death of Michael Jackson.

5 Like many. I had forgotten what

a great performer he was. so tainted now is our association with him, after all the allegations he became better known for at the end of his life. If you have a sec. check out all the YouTube links to his early work. A true genius at work.
