Proms in the Park Always a great night, the BBC’s Proms in the Park returns to Glasgow Green to celebrate

the end of the Proms series of concerts in relaxed and appropriately Scottish style. Violin soloist Nicola Benedetti performs with the inimitable tenor and broadcaster Jamie MacDougall as presenter. Tickets are all gone for now, but returns will be available on the night from 6.30pm at the McLennan Arch box office across from the High Court. Proms in the Park, Glasgow Green, Sat 12 Sep.

7.30pm. £10–28 (free–£25). Long established as one of today’s greatest living pianists, Mitsuko Uchida has been transporting audiences for around 40 years. Here she gives what’s certain to be an assured performance of Beethoven’s sublime final three sonatas, for which she received great acclaim in London earlier this year. Not to be missed.

Theatre Royal, Glasgow, Wed 23 Sep. ✽✽ Mitsuko Uchida In her only performance in Scotland this year, the world renowned and award-laden pianist plays Beethoven’s last three piano sonatas in a performance which launches an extensive series of Beethoven concerts at Perth Concert Hall. Glasgow ✽✽ Scottish Opera: The Elixir of Love Theatre Royal, 282 Hope

Street, 0870 060 6647. 7.15pm. £10–£49 (£7–£43). A revival of Giles Havergal’s 1994 production of Donizetti’s charming opera buffa. The comedy of errors follows peasant Nemorino’s attempts to win the love of the haughty Adina, and features some of Donizetti’s most sparkling and moving music. Francesco Corti conducts and soloists include Elena Xanthoudakis and Edgaras Montvidas.
