GILMOREHILL G12 9 University Avenue, 330 5522. Bill W and Dr Bob Fri 18 & Sat 19 Sep. 7.30pm. £10. Bill Wilson and Dr Bob Smith founded Alcoholics Anonymous. Following a sell-out run in Boston last year, this universal story about the deadliness of isolation and the healing power of connection, comes to Glasgow.

A stage adaptation of Neil Gunn’s novel chronicling the adventures of inhabitants of a Scottish herring fishing village as the community recovers from the effects of the Highland clearances. Victoria Wood’s canteen-based sitcom gets the stage treatment with Andrew Dunn (Tony) and Shobna Gulati (Anita) from the TV series joining the cast. MERCHANT SQUARE 71–73 Albion Street, FREE The Memory Projector Thu 24–Sun 27 Sep. 2–4pm & 6–8pm. An installation by theatre company WILDWORKS about the past, present and future of the Merchant City. Part of the Merchant City Festival.

La Befana If it’s Autumn it must be time for another series of lunchtime plays courtesy of Oran Mor and that old reliable, the Play, a Pie and a Pint season. The programme gets into its stride with this

collaboration between artist Adrian Wiszniewski and composer Gordon Rigby, who have reinvented an old Italian tale about a housekeeper who visits all the children in Italy on the eve of 6 January to fill their socks with sweets or lumps of coal. This new piece follows on from Wiszniewski and Rigby’s success with GBH last year. As ever the price of a ticket includes a pie and a drink. Oran Mor, Glasgow, Mon 14–Sat 19 Sep.
