Beethoven’s overture to Fidelio is followed by a performance by Sergey Khachatryan of his energetic Violin Concerto. Last up is Brahms’ Symphony No 1 21 years in the making, so intimidated was he by Beethoven’s great symphonic legacy, and sometimes referred to as ‘Beethoven’s 10th’.
