How did you get that job?

Name Siobhan Cain Job Title Company Manager

Company plan B

Website www.planbcreative.org When did you start your job? July 2007

So what does your role actually involve? A little bit of everything I look after anything from tour booking, company contracts and nance to fundraising, promotion and general administration. Best / Worst Aspects? Best Getting to work with and learn from some amazing artists including the fantastic Frank McConnell in a job that is really varied and interesting, and, being able to do so from my home in the Highlands. Worst Would it be too predictable to say I can’t think of any other than not having the security of permanent funding?

What did you do before you started this job? Prior to this job I worked at Dance Base in Edinburgh as their Bookings and Front of House Manager but over the years I have had quite an eclectic mix of employers including various travel companies and even The List employed me for its sins back in 1997! What’s the best way to get a job like yours? I guess a real interest in dance and the arts, good organisational skills and a willingness to be challenged would be a good starting point. That and making sure Katie Stuart and Morag Deyes from Dance Base say nice things about you. Looking back, what advice would you give to a young Siobhan Cain at the start of her career? I don’t look back at my work in terms of career as such. I took a gap year from college back in 1997 and am technically still on it!

and nally . . . What are you most looking forward to in 2010? Starting work on our new project with Shooglenifty and a long awaited holiday to Canada.
