If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Such is the philosophy of Modern Lovers, which continues to offer funk, northern soul and 60s beat at the GRV in Edinburgh and the Flying Duck in Modern Lovers Glasgow with unabashed enthusiasm for the music of the good ol’ days. Every night needs the occasional shake up, however, and this June that shake-up comes courtesy of Super Furry Animals member Bunf, who’ll be guesting at ML events in both cities. After a stint as an art teacher in Wales (‘I was a very bad teacher,’ he admits), Bunf joined SFA as a guitarist. His DJ sets are not a regular occurrence, so it’s worth popping along to see how well he takes to the decks. Modern Lovers, GRV, Edinburgh, Fri 25 Jun; Flying Duck, Glasgow, Sat 26 Jun.
