How did you get that job?

Looking back, what advice would you give to a young Anna at the start of her career? I would have tried to plan a bit more financially. But to be honest I don’t think I would have done very much different. Our mottos are: follow your gut feeling. Be creative. Do it how you want it yourself. Work hard and have fun! and finally; What are you most looking forward to in 2011? Getting to the finishing line in the Edinburgh Marathon this May (there are a few of us from Joseph Pearce’s running club who are doing it in aid of Barnardo’s Raft Project).

Name: Anna Christopherson Job title: Owner-director = slave under my own drive

Company: Boda Bar, Sofi’s, Victoria and Joseph Pearce’s.

When did you start your job? October 2003 with wine trading and then opened Boda Bar September 2004. So what does your job actually involve? Lots and lots of admin and all the nitty gritty stuff that comes with running your own business. A great deal of fun event managing like writers’ nights in Boda, clothes swaps in Sofi’s, singles nights in Victoria. Running your own business does always involve lots creative thinking to make your business change and develop. And last but not least recruiting which is key to our business.

Best / Worst Aspects? Best aspect is without a doubt people. Staff and customers! I enjoy creating a good ambience and seeing that people are having a good time both in front of and behind the bar. Also that I get to try out a lot of dishes for our new menus in Joseph Pearce’s! The worst aspect is when there are problems that are not easily solved.
