list.co.uk/music EAT, SLEEP and BREATHE

The Glasgow-based electronic visionary DAM MANTLE, real name Tom Marshallsay, is a non-smoking, well-hydrated avocado-lover, apparently . . .

What time is breakfast? Before and after going to sleep.

Tea or coffee? Tea and coffee.

Smoking or non-smoking? Non-smoking.

Sweet or savoury snacks? Both.

What food do you miss when you tour? It was hard to find salad in the States. I miss preparing it myself mostly.

Who’s the best cook you know? Jamie Oliver, he’s a good one isn’t he? Got all them kids eating leaves and that, got all them books out and everything.

What’s on your rider? Ale, fruit, hummus, avocado, pitta.

Which country/city has the best food? Mexican people in the US know how to do it. Over here Mexican food has been translated pretty badly, I think.

Do you eat out a lot? On tour, yeah. Seafood mostly if I can get it / afford it.

Do you eat or drink onstage? I’d love to see someone eat on stage. Drinking, yes a lot of water and beer. Dam Mantle’s official EP launch is at Nice N Sleazy’s, Glasgow, Thu 4 Aug. See EP review, page 70.
