5 Things. . . PUNKTUAT!ON Like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, bands who exclaim!

1 Come on Gang! Dearly departed

since February past, CoG! are fondly remembered as one

of Edinburgh’s finest indie-pop acts.

2 Giraffes? Giraffes! G?G!

win bonus points for having a ‘?’ as well as a ‘!’ in their name,

and for having a debut album called SUPERBASS!!!

3 !!! Dance punk? Check.

Attention-grabbing? Check. Invariably comes with an

explanation of how to say it aloud? Chkchkchk.

4 The Go! Team Like Godspeed

in their unconventional placement of

exclamation marks, but unlike Godspeed in their love of samplerrific pop tunes.

5 Neu! Krautrock from two of the

fellows who invented the genre, Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother (both ex-Kraftwerk). Worth exclaiming, we reckon.

NewsExtra THE VAULT Just as Edinburgh is gearing up for the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ this August, so it seems out West they are preparing for an impressive (albeit far smaller) show of their own, in the guise of new contemporary art festival The Vault. Setting its stall in Glasgow’s Briggait between 9–11 September, the project aims to encourage the public to invest in Glasgow’s contemporary artists. Curator- and artist-led organisations will present work for sale in the recently-refurbished fishmarket space. A programme of guided tours and workshops will run alongside the event.
