Chad VanGaalen MUSIC After a brief break from his regular musical activities to perform under the moniker Black Mold, the Canadian visual artist and indie folk musician is back on the road under his own name to promote his latest release, Diaper Island. It’s a departure from his usual electronically- flavoured sound, with stripped-back guitars providing the main driving force for much of the album. True to form, he’s also illustrated the album artwork himself, as well as animating music videos for several single releases check out bit.ly/chadpeace for the rather psychedelic, Yellow Submarine- esque ‘Peace on the Rise’ video. See feature, page 108. Captain’s Rest, Glasgow, Thu 18 Aug; Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh, Fri 19 Aug.
