Gruff Rhys and Phil Collins collaboration Odd-pop soloist and Super Furry Animals lead singer Gruff Rhys (pictured) recently made the song ‘Y Baban Bach’ as part of a collaboration with Phil Collins. Now, please stay in your seats Genesis fans, this Collins is not the drummer turned solo star, but in fact the Turner Prize-nominated documentary maker. Rhys’ single provides the soundtrack to Collins’ recent short film The Meaning of Style, about a group of anti-fascist Malaysian skinheads. With only 300 copies of the soundtrack on sale at tour venues, featuring Rhys’ melancholic and every so slightly trippy vocals, accompanied by North Wales’ instrumental surf rock quartet Y Niwl. Bongo Club, Edinburgh, Sat 8 Oct.
