Scottish National Portrait Gallery VISUAL ART Closed for refurbishment since April 2009, the National Portrait Gallery is finally ready to re-open its doors. Inside, you’ll find an expanded wealth of traditional and contemporary paintings, as well as sculpture, photography and film artworks, with a series of new galleries and exhibitions arranged along thematic lines, including Romantic Camera, exploring identity, romanticism and photography; Pioneers of Science, concentrating on the leading thinkers of Scottish culture past and present; and ‘Missing’, Graham Fagen’s video installation that was created to complement Andrew O’Hagan’s play of the same name. Hudson Mohawke CLUBS The Glasgow-born electronica whiz kid is finally getting the recognition he deserves, following the release of his Satin Panthers EP and some secretive stateside remix work. This month, he takes a break from the Warp Records scene and returns to his LuckyMe roots, playing the DIY collective’s party at Sneaky Pete’s.
