Garry Maclennan

Originally from Brora in the far north east of Scotland, photographer Garry Maclennan currently lives and works in Glasgow. In the last six years he has founded a collaborative photography studio in a hidden cul-de-sac in Glasgow’s West End, been awarded a photography BA from the University of the West of Scotland and shown work in some unusual locations: in a tiny 1m x 1m gallery; in a grand filmhouse, in a fancy window display . . .

In 2011 Garry photographed artist David Shrigley’s upcoming exhibit on behalf of The Hayward Gallery and worked closely with London-based publisher Cicada Books photographing cover and content for hit DIY title, The State of Craft. Most recently, Garry exhibited Icarus, his latest series of photographs, on the walls of Merchant City style hotel, the Brunswick. A departure from his usual dramatic, barely edited, warts’n’all style, Icarus uses digital manipulation to the extreme, is highly stylised and ventures into the territory of graphic art. garrymaclennan.co.uk thisiscentralstation.com
