Allan Sekula: Ship of Fools The renowned American photographer Allan Sekula’s last solo show in Scotland was 17 years ago, and he hasn’t exhibited in the UK for over a decade. Ship of Fools, the new photographic exhibition at Edinburgh’s Stills more than compensates for his absence from these shores. The show explores the sea as a place of trade, exploitation and activism through the voyage of the Global Mariner, a reconditioned cargo vessel that carried an exhibition about working conditions at sea in its hold. Meanwhile, the GFT will be screening the artist’s award-winning documentary The Forgotten Space, which grew out of his epic photographic essay Fish Story on Fri 17 Feb.
