When did you start your job? We started touring in June 2009, but we have been a band since about 2003/2004. So what does your job actually involve? I write songs with my band in a small room in Edinburgh. Then we record those songs and make an album. Then I go on holiday with my band and play shows every night. Then I sometimes have to do interviews and talk pish about myself.
Best / worst aspects? Best – Spending time with my friends. Traveling all over the place. Not having to use my brain for 11 months of the year. Not having to get a real job. Writing music. Being creative. Meeting fun people. Free clothes and rum.
Worst – Seeing how much our band earns compared to how much we actually get paid. Not having a steady income and being able to plan ahead. Being away from home for long periods of time. Missing Match of the Day a lot. Performing when you don't feel like it. Interviews and photoshoots. Looking back, what advice would you give to a young Adam at the start of his career? Keep your receipts. Just do what feels right to you. Don't be afraid to tell people to fuck off. I wouldn't say it feels like we've made many mistakes. I would ask young Adam to change the band name though. It’s embarrassing.
Finally, what are you most looking forward to in 2012? Our big U.S. tour and our first visit to the Coachella festival.
